Fashion Model Jazzmine Carthon

Today I decided to ask curvy supper model Jazzmine Carthon some fun questions to help you get to know her. I have worked with Jazzmine before and I love her energy and how fabulous she looked walking down the runway in my #BettyJean SS16 callection at the Luxe Kurves Fashion show.I look forword to working with her again soon. Enjoy these kwatersggi life style questions I asked her.

What are you up to right now, in your fashion career ?

— Right now in my career I am working with some of my favorite brands and I was just selected as a finalist in the Sports Illustrated Swim Search contest! I was selected from the open call in Miami and I feel so blessed to be apart of such an awesome group of women and to be able to represent both women of color and women with curves!

Do you prefer to work freelance or with a modeling agency?

— I am currently signed to IPM Model Management and I love my agency! 

What parts of the world has the Fashion industry taken you ? name some fabulous places that you travel to as a model.

— So far, I’ve mostly been traveling back and forth from LA to NYC and other parts of the east coast. I’m sure my career will take me abroad soon enough.

What was your favorite moment in your career?

— My favorite moment in my career so far has to be during the Project Runway NYFW Finale when I had a huge runway moment in a swimsuit by Margarita Alvarez and received a standing ovation from Zac Posen, Nina Garcia, Heidi Klum, and the entire NYFW audience. That was the biggest adrenaline rush I’ve ever had in my life. 

Where do you get your inspiration from?

— My inspiration comes from my own need to spread as much light and positivity as possible. Also, my parents instilled in me an overall confident disposition and made sure that I always felt beautiful, even though the most famous women in the media and on television looked nothing like me. They emphasized the importance of individuality and taught me to be fearless in everything! More than anything, I want to become a source of inspiration to anyone who has ever felt like their differences were holding them back or ever felt like they weren’t enough. I want them to see how I haven’t let anything stop me from going for my dreams and they could do the same and do it fearlessly, confidently, and powerfully.  

Are you a Lipstick our lip gloss girl?

— Both!! Ruby Woo MAC lipstick or Fenty Gloss Bomb

What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

— A Smile!

You have such beautiful skin how do you keep your skin so clear?

— African Black Soap with Shea Butter and LOTS of water!!

Who runs the world?

— Women! Especially once we understand how powerful we are and the importance of uplifting each other!

What’s in your iTunes playlist right now?

— My music taste is pretty eclectic but I’ve been really into a lot of Indie and Electronic R&B lately.

How do you maintain being booked and busy and having a love life? And if you don’t have a love life are do you want one or would you rather wait?

— I think everything is about balance. Too often, women are told that we have to choose between having a career, love, and a thriving social life. I believe that I can have all of these things simultaneously if whoever I decide to date is secure enough with himself to have a woman who is unapologetically in charge of her own destiny. 

Last question what are some inspirational words you have for young entrepreneur make up artist that are trying to break into the industry?

— I believe in taking leaps of faith, even if it means making yourself uncomfortable for a while, to follow your dreams. Nothing GREAT comes from comfort zones so if you don’t want to settle for mediocrity, you’ve got to jump! You have to try something different if you want to change your circumstances. Also, study your craft. Make sure you’re striving to be an expert in whatever it is you want to do. Lastly, the only one who can stop you IS YOU!
